StoreAge to Provide Storage Virtualization Management to Bosch European Computing Centers

MUNICH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 2001--StoreAge Networking Technologies has announced today an agreement with Robert Bosch GmbH, the leading German manufacturer of electrical appliances, to deploy its SVM(TM) Storage Virtualization Manager in Bosch's European computing centers.

The deployment is effected with the active assistance of BASIS, StoreAge's strategic partner in Germany. The driving factor for this decision was Bosch's rapid increase in storage requirements and the need to resolve the storage management problems arising from such growth.

The SVM provides a uniform and centralized management view of all the enterprise's installed disk systems supplied by a number of different manufacturers. The SVM contribute significantly to the cost-effective management of Bosch's storage resources. Planning processes and configuration modifications, which took up several days, are being accomplished in a matter of hours.

``We are pleased to be selected by Bosch for the Storage Virtualization Manager and its associated advanced applications'', said Dani Naor Director of Business Development for StoreAge. ``Storage virtualization is the single most significant improvement in storage technology over the past several years. The ability to implement heterogeneous storage networking solutions using multiple storage devices enables our customers to effectively centralize the SAN management function and enjoy a significant reduction in their overall storage cost. Together with BASIS, we are delivering the industry's most reliable and scalable storage networking infrastructure to the German market, enabling SAN customers to keep pace with the exponential growth in storage requirements''.

Mr. Moerder, manager of Bosch's European Computer Center noted: ``our initial data indicate significant savings and much improved operational efficiencies. We expect the SVM to provide us with increased benefits when we complete the deployment in all our major European computing centers.''

BASIS Advanced Information Technologies of Munich supplies the required SAN components and supports Bosch with planning, overall design and system integration for this project. The initial phase includes the networking of over 100 servers with over 15TB of storage in a fully redundant high availability configuration.
