BHF Bank Simplifies SAN Management With StoreAge

To reduce costs and achieve cross-vendor compatibility, the financial institution adds StoreAge SVM to two of its SANs.

Since the financial institution relies on highly critical financial applications to run its business, the Bank has implemented a Disaster Immune configuration consisting of two separate data centers located approximately seven miles apart. Each site contains a Storage Area Network (SAN) comprised of multiple Solaris servers, Brocade SilkWorm® 12000 switches, IBM Enterprise Storage Systems (Shark) and multiple terabytes of highly critical data.

After deploying SVM appliances in each SAN in each data center, the Bank began realizing the advantages they had hoped to gain. These include the ability to seamlessly add of new servers and applications to the SAN, on-the-fly provisioning of storage capacity to each server whenever needed, and simplified administration via one common management tool across both SANs. In addition, SVM’s ability to manage storage from virtually any vendor allows the Bank to select future storage subsystems that best fit their needs.
